The club were sad to hear of the passing of former 1st team manager, John Langford, last week. He was our reserve team boss in the mid 90s. He stepped up into the 1st team in January 1997 when we were really struggling and Trevor Ford was relieved of his duties. He couldn't save us from the drop and Jimmy Bolton came in as player manager for the following season. However, John stayed with us as a General Manager. An early forerunner of a Director of Football if you will. That didn't really work out either and Bolton only lasted for a season before Keith Boanas came in. John also doubled as groundsman over the few years he was with us. But everyone thought he was an absolute gent.
John's funeral is on 21st September at Beckenham crematorium, Elmers End Road, Elmers End, Beckenham @ 1.15pm
No black ties, but bright colours as requested by family
