MARCH 2024

Michail Antonio returns to roots to inspire next generation

Balham Football Club

to groundshare at Imperial Fields next season

In a significant development for the local football community, Balham Football Club is delighted to announce its relocation to Imperial Fields, home of Tooting & Mitcham United FC, marking a return closer to its spiritual home in Balham.

This move, effective from the upcoming 24/25 season, represents a major upgrade in the club's facilities and spectator capacity, promising an enhanced experience for fans and players alike.

After sharing grounds with AFC Croydon Athletic for four seasons, including during the Covid-19 era, the decision to move was influenced by AFC Croydon Athletic's need to focus on their own teams and future developments under the new ownership.

Balham FC extends its deepest gratitude to AFC Croydon Athletic for their hospitality and especially for the improvements made to the playing surface, which have been instrumental in enabling Balham FC to play its distinctive style of football. We will thoroughly look forward to visiting again next season, but we won't miss those potholes every week!

The club also wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Mayfield, who have been pivotal in supporting the club's operations. Special mentions go to Mick and Tara, who have contributed so much on match days, behind the bar, and in the kitchen - we will miss our chats at our home games.

Balham FC is excited to welcome more local supporters to Imperial Fields, and we hope to gain some new fans from the T&M area, in what will be an exciting season. The move not only signifies a step forward in the club's ambitions but also strengthens its ties with the local community and gives us the ability to develop our Youth side as they will also be based here.

Enhanced Access and Transport Links

The move to Imperial Fields is not just about improved facilities; it also offers better transport links for those travelling from Balham. Conveniently located, the ground is accessible via multiple transport options from Balham Station, all within a 25-minute journey. Fans can take the Northern line to Morden followed by the 118 bus, the Southern Rail train to Mitcham Junction with a short tram ride and walk, or the 280 Bus from Tooting Broadway Station, making it easier than ever for supporters to cheer on their team.

Looking Ahead

As Balham FC embarks on this exciting new chapter, the club remains committed to its vision of building a stronger, more connected community through the beautiful game. We extend our best wishes to AFC Croydon Athletic as they grow and develop and look forward to potentially crossing paths in the future, be it at The Mayfield or elsewhere.

Here's to new beginnings, unforgettable moments, and continued success on and off the pitch. Join us at Imperial Fields as we move forward, together.
