Club Update - 19th December 2020

In light of this evening's announcements for the government, the club has cancelled the two friendlies they had planned for December.

Anyone who had already purchased tickets for the games will be

refunded in due course.

The club would like to take this opportunity to thank all the club's staff, coaches, volunteers and fans for there hard work and support during the first half of the season. We hope you are all able to enjoy the holidays and look forward to seeing you at some point in the New Year.

Club update - 16th December 2020 f

Price changes and Tier 3 restrictions.

We have today revised our pricing structure for friendlies arranged while the league fixtures have been paused.

We had hoped the reduced prices on Tuesday 15th December would have meant a reasonable attendance but unfortunately, we made a loss hosting the game.

We need to find a way to fund some expenses for players during this period or risk losing them to clubs that are playing competitive fixtures and so with this in mind and the fact we will be playing teams from a higher level we have revised the prices as follows;

£6 adults £4 for concessions and £1 for children.

In recognition of those who support the club regularly throughout the season, both season ticket holders and members club cardholders can gain entry at the concessionary rate.

You should also be aware as London is now in Tier 3, we are limited to an attendance of 200, and there are restrictions on travelling for those in Tier 2 areas. If you are able to come, please book online to secure your place.

I hope you understand our current situation and realise that we may need to alter tickets prices again depending on the situation but will try to avoid that as much as possible.

I hope to see you at one of the upcoming friendlies.

Tooting & Mitcham United FC can confirm the club has been deep cleaned. We have players available and East Grinstead are in agreement for Tuesdays friendly to go ahead with our usual Covid 19 precautions in place.

Statement about cancellation of friendly on 12th December

Today's friendly against Whyteleafe was cancelled this morning due to one of our players informing us of a positive COVID-19 test. We were only informed this morning of the situation and as the first team trained on Thursday evening together, it could be likely other players and coaches are affected.

The players and coaches that have been in close contact with the player will now isolate until they can be tested and get a negative result.

The changing areas of the club will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitised prior to further use.

Anyone who purchased tickets online will be refunded in due course.

A further update will follow regarding our friendly with East Grinstead on Tuesday 15th December. The rest of the facility remains open and continues to operate in a COVID compliant way.

Club update – 11th December 2020

League postponement, Friendlies, pricing, and ongoing costs

It has been a difficult couple of weeks trying to digest all the changes coming out of the second lockdown and what it means for the club so apologies for the lack of communication.

As most of you are aware the Isthmian League decided to continue the pause in fixtures until 9th January 2021, unless significant changes occur in the tier system or the funding for clubs.

We have heard today that there has been a relaxation on spectators attending matches in tier 3 which will mean if we do go into tier 3 on the 16th December (which is looking increasingly likely), we can still have up to 200 fans at matches. The funding situation is unclear, the money allocated to our level of football appears to be mostly loans and we are unlikely to know full details until January. I am not sure the change regarding spectators will be enough to get the league to start again particularly this close to Christmas, but we aim to let you know as soon as we do.

Whilst the league is on pause, we have permission to play friendlies and we know how much everyone enjoys coming to games not just for the football but for the social and mental wellbeing benefits too. So, we arranged a few games to keep things going, we kept the prices the same as league games, which I know some think are too high, but we still have the same bills to pay for coaches and players, floodlights and heating. We also have no income from the bar due to the COVID restrictions and whilst some clubs are fortunate to have been given dispensation from their local authority we have not.

We have however listened to your feedback, that you believe it’s too expensive and decided that for our second friendly on Tuesday 15th December, and all future friendlies we will reduce the ticket prices to £5 adult, £2.50 concessions / season ticket holders, and 50p for children. We want to get as many people attending and supporting the club as possible so please come along and support the club, in this current environment no one really knows what is around the corner so if Tooting & Mitcham United is important to you come along, see your friends and cheer on your team in a COVID safe way.
