T&MUFC PRESS RELEASE

7th FEBRUARY 2023

Tooting & Mitcham United FC Statement 7th February 2023

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Andy Hunt as Joint First Team Manager alongside Ashley Bosah who has been in the role since 2018.

Andy brings his successful experience of management at Step 4 with Godalming Town and Fleet Town, plus a sound understanding of the development of younger players, which remains a core feature of Tooting's football strategy.

The club has struggled to regain its best form since the interruption caused by Covid, although the performances have recently been better than the results would indicate. It is very far from being a lost cause and we believe that the combined efforts and complementary skills and knowledge of Ashley and Andy will be the factor that will bring much-needed success on the pitch over the remainder of the season.

Andy Hunt's statement
re his appointment at
Tooting & Mitcham United FC

Andy joins Tooting & Mitcham United with a huge amount of experience in football management. He has managed at this level at Godalming Town FC, where he worked with Paul Dale (formerly a successful first team coach at TMUFC), and also at Fleet Town FC.

At Godalming, Andy rebuilt a squad left with no players after being moved to the Southern League South West Division. He secured Step 4 status comfortably and, despite another move into the Central Division, made great progression with the team to push for promotion as well as reach the Surrey Senior Cup final. At Fleet, as a joint manager, Andy secured Step 4 status against all odds in 2018.

Since then, he has founded and developed a successful international football academy with business partner Ross Weatherstone. The academy attracts some very exciting young players from all around the world.

Andy said: “Over the last few months a number of opportunities to return to 1st team football have been presented to me, but nothing has felt right until contact was made from Tooting.  This is a fantastic football club with huge history and unbelievable potential.  Right now it finds itself in a tough situation but from what I’ve seen, everything is in place to make great progress on the pitch.  I’m really looking forward to being in the dugout against Ashford and helping the club move forward.”
